Hamilton Budgeting Advisory Trust

BUDGETING ADVISORY TRUST  is a non-profit organisation specialising in providing free budget advice (with ongoing consultancy), budgeting education, and the management of Summary Instalment Orders (SIO's). 

They can:- 

  • Assist you to develop a household budget
  • Provide you with a six month budget forecast
  • Inform you of your consumer rights as required
  • Negotiate with creditors if necessary
  • Check that you are receiving your full benefit and family support entitlements
  • Help you to negotiate with WINZ, the Courts, and IRD

 We can also give you the skills to successfully manage your household finances

Hamilton City Council - Housing Service

HAMILTON CITY COUNCIL - HOUSING SERVICE  has 452 units which provide housing for people mainly over the age of 60 who are reliant on a permanent benefit and have assets not exceeding $50,000 (couple), $35000 (single). A proportion of units is also available for those who receive an invalid benefit or the 55 + benefit.

Hamilton Community Arts Council

HAMILTON COMMUNITY ARTS COUNCIL provides advice, support, funding and networking for artists in the community. Funding for projects range from big or small and for differing needs such as cultural festivals and performances, equipment, dance and theatre through to visual arts and workshops.

Hamilton District Community Law Centre

HAMILTON DISTRICT COMMUNITY LAW CENTRE provides legal services free of charge wherever possible to groups or individuals whom for financial or other reasons would not access existing legal services. 

It also provides education seminars on specific legal topics for groups and individuals.

Hamilton Returned Services Association

Contact the HAMILTON RETURNED SERVICES ASSOCIATION INC for assistance and information.  RSA people rally to help fellow New Zealanders in need and war veterans in particular. RSA help is available at local and national level to eligible war veterans and their families, RSA Members and non-members and to the wider New Zealand community

HEARING ASSOCIATION INC is a voluntary organisation promoting and advancing the interests and wellbeing of all people affected by acquired hearing loss. They provide hearing tests, hearing aid management and devices to assist listening for the telephone and television.

Hospice Waikato

HOSPICE WAIKATO COMMUNITY TRUST  services are available to all people in the community regardless of their race, ethnic background, age, religion, gender or nature of their illness. All Hospice Waikato services are provided free of charge. 

  • A specialised palliative home care nursing service, available seven days a week through the day, and on call 24 hours for urgent requirements.
  • Grief and Bereavement service for individuals, families, children and young people.
  • Trained family support volunteers for practical and emotional support.
  • Weekly Friendship morning for anyone using Hospice services.
  • The provision of linen and loan equipment. This includes the provision of specialised electric beds, lazyboy chairs, wheelchairs and commodes.
  • Education to patients, families and the wider community. This includes the Hospice Waikato library offering books, videos and audio cassettes.

Meals on Wheels

Waikato District Health Board and Red Cross bring hot midday meals Meals on Wheels to people’s doorstep in the Hamilton region.

Anyone is eligible, you do not need a referral. Choose from a selective menu. Monday  - Friday, cost $7.50 per meal including dessert.   Just phone Health Waikato 839 8609.

National Association for Loss and Grief

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR LOSS & GRIEF (NALAG) is a voluntary, non-profit organisation which focuses on issues related to loss and grief. It is recognised by a wide cross section of the caring professions and interested members of the community. NALAG branches extend throughout New Zealand, and links are maintained to similar organisations in Australia, Canada, the US, and the UK.

 Our Aims 

  • To encourage and promote professional and community education in the areas of loss and grief.
  • To encourage direct assistance in the form of individual counselling and group support to those suffering the effects of loss and grief.
  • To encourage investigation, study, and research into the human experience of loss and grief.
  • To coordinate grief-related activities at a local level.

NATIONAL HEART FOUNDATION OF NZ are committed to promoting heart health and reducing the suffering and early loss of life from heart disease through heart research, heart health promotion and rehabilitation.  They promote food and exercise programmes in schools, support medical professionals and work with food manufacturers, to mention a few.
