to make their own choices and decisions. All services are fee and
confidential. We provide regular
learning opportunities for older people with workshops, seminars and education programmes.
Safe with Age: This driver awareness course is supported
by LTNZ and run by trained volunteer tutors covering issues older drivers may
have and updates participants in the Road Code.
This course is designed to be thought provoking and informative whilst
maintaining an air of informality. This is a classroom based course and
participants are guided through video clips, workbooks and question / answer
sessions.
Seminars: Weekly seminars are held which are on
a range of topics of interest to all age groups but with an emphasis on older
people.
Education: We offer
a range of information and presentations to schools, tertiary institutions, community
groups and community health groups which are tailored to meet their needs. This includes projects involving the exchange
of ideas and skills between generations.
Through Other Eyes: A workshop for those working with older people or have an
interest in exploring some of the challenges which may come with age. Participants use equipment which impairs
their senses and mobility and are given a number of shopping tasks to
complete. Experiences are discussed in a
workshop situation.
Health Promotion Training: Our professional staff
provide training for rest home staff, health professionals and other
agencies in a range of age related health topics. For details contact the office.
Shopping Service: Age Concern shoppers assist older people
to complete their grocery shopping.

Link.
Accredited Visiting Service: A
free service which recruits and trains volunteers to visit older people who may
be lonely and isolated in our community.
The commitment of the visitor is one hour per week.

a Co-ordinator who deals with any areas of concern
surrounding abuse of an older person, be it physical, mental, emotional and
financial or verbal abuse. Our Co-ordinator is also available to provide education workshops

Fieldworker Service: A Fieldworker is available to support and
assist older people in the community with any social needs, health and care
issues or benefit enquiries.

the office quarterly and distributed to all members. This platform allows us the opportunity to

people.
