Don't Wait 'Til You're Eighty Matey

As unique individuals our quality of life can be defined by ourselves. Our attitude towards ageing and how we see others age has a vast impact on us. It has even been suggested that we are, in fact, capable of designing our own ageing process. So why not design it ?

Don’t Wait ‘Til You’re Eighty Matey is a thought provoking resource developed and used by Age Concern Hamilton to act as a catalyst for people interested in designing a great older age for themselves.  By asking questions, creating discussion and reinforcing key messages, participants can be inspired and motivated to take action towards ensuring a vibrant and exciting period in their lives.

The common threads of quality of life into older age are the key messages in this resource.  They have been identified by older people throughout New Zealand and reinforced by people in their 80's around the Waikato.  After all if you want to know what the ingredients are to having a great older age, why not start by asking those who are out there living it?

Don't Wait 'til You're 80 Matey is incorporated into the weekly education seminars.

Wall DecorationUsing the beautiful colours and shapes of the autumn leaves plus odds and ends from her garden, Evelyn Main created this lovely wall decoration with a seasonal look. Evelyn was inspired to create something both by the 80 Matey seminar and the Floral Fantasy session by Simply Elegant Flowers.
